“His drawings and paintings weave a narrative of haunted, backwoods estates where spectres creep in the forest and make shadowy appearances in the desolate, countryside houses.”

biography:

Born and raised in the Northern Virginia area Sam Wolfe Connelly is an illustrator based in New York.

Sam has work published with A24, DC Comics, Random House, Scholastic, Folio Society, Mondo, Disney, Wizards of the Coast, Konami, Capcom and more.

When it comes to the artwork process he typically works in conte, covering the entire paper in black initially and working in reverse using erasers to create the image. Drawing from scenes of his childhood, he brings the spooks and mysteries of the inhabited world into his illustrations.

As the artist states: "I really miss being scared of the unknown as a kid. That's something you can't get back as an adult where there's an answer for everything. I want to put campfire stories into my artwork."
